About Me

Picture

Prior to beginning my private practice I attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where I earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Sociology in 1997 and went on to earn my Masters of Science in Social Work degree at the University of Texas at Austin in 2000.  I have been licensed as a Clinical Social Worker since 2004.

Upon completion of my Master's degree I gained invaluable experience by working in a variety of treatment settings, including Catholic Charities, Denver Health, and Denver Children's Home, providing residential and outpatient therapy to individual, couples and families with mental health and substance abuse issues.  In these settings I participated as part of a complete treatment team to provide comprehensive care to clients.  Understanding the importance of collaborating with other professionals (doctors, school personnel, etc) I strive to involve all care providers in order to best serve my clients and accurately assess each client's unique needs.  Of course this communication only occurs with a client's permission.  It is through these clinical experiences that I gained insight into the world of adult, adolescent, and child counseling, as well as psychiatric care, juvenile justice, school-based treatment, and acute emergency care.

I also formulated depression and problem-solving group curriculums for adolescents during my time as a school-based therapist and worked as part of a depression collaborative team member to implement depression screening throughout school-based and outpatient care.

During my free time I enjoy yoga, hiking, biking, traveling, and spending time with my family and pets.  I continue to strive for balance in my own life and enjoy helping clients achieve more balance and calm in their own lives.

LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker):  The Licensed Clinical Social Worker has a graduate academic degree, has had supervised clinical work experience, and has passed a national- or state-certified licensing exam. This advanced professional can receive health-care insurance reimbursements.
